As somebody who has kids like Stig, especialy during x-mas time ;)
As i see it right, the people, who wants to change the coding standards have
already existing classes. There are already published and used. They want to
introduced them into PEAR (i believe, they want to benefit from the
infrastructure), but without making changes to match the coding standard.
The first reason for changing is the function naming problem. But we have
already a solution for this: change the class to match the PEAR naming
standards and write a wrapper to keep compatible to existing installations.
This way is already documented in the FAQ.
The second reason is, they want not spend time in changing tabs to space, the
position of braces etc. or all in all, they want not to learn the PEAR
standard, because the believe the PEAR standard decreases the productivity.
(IMO the coding standard dicussion decreases productivity
in the larger measure)
