Sorry that sounds harsh, but as someone who uses version control for EVERYTHING (down to big chunks of /etc), I can attest that it's SAVED me an order of magnitude more time than it has consumed. SPEAR packages must have a public CVS, I tend to want it in the cvs.php.net/pear repository but cannot be a requirement.I agree, though don't feel too bad about requiring cvs.php.net.
