Hi guys, Haven't you all been in the situation that you want to view the source of X package but can't because the code is no where online except for that .tgz that pearweb provides ? Isn't that very frustrating ? IMHO it is very frustrating since we offer free hosting of the source in the php.net CVS repo.
IMHO http://cvs.php.net shouldn't be used for just code browsing as we're doing.
There is no excuse not maintaining the source in SCM that's accessible to everyone, especially since we have our very own CVS repo at cvs.php.net which all PEAR developers can get access to if they like.
There are many issues that would benefit the use of cvs.php.net: 1) The developer goes inactive and others want to take the project 2) Having it at cvs.php.net one get more chances of getting help and makes more easy to a developer to send you a valid patch or test the latest version. 3) Tecnically, aren't we giving the rights to PHP Group by using the PHP Licence? (if so shouldn't the code be accesible by them?) Tomas V.V.Cox
