Agh, the pain of XML tools ;) out of interest where is the XSchema code? http://pear.php.net/dtd
I"m not sure how many packages are using package2.xml yet. I'd like the format to be a little more flexible, and what you describe sounds clearer, so if you are going to break it, the sooner the better.. It would also be usefull if we could create packages (eg. generate package.xml(v1) that could be installed by the older pear.. - but I guess that's quite a bit of work.Alan, To be blunt: you probably need to research more fully the features of PEAR 1.4.0, and it would be good to do this before requesting code changes. We've had the support of both a package.xml and package.xml 2.0 for *months* - as in PEAR 1.4.0a1 - hence package-PEAR.xml and package2.xml in every single commit for the PEAR package. Otherwise, nobody would be able to upgrade to any of the PEAR alphas. Greg
