Ubuntu Linux
2. Mandriva Linux5.0.4 in rc2, 5.1 in cooker
3. Fedora CoreSince fc4
4. SUSE LINUXin 9.3 but not in 10 or 10.1 alpha
5. Debian GNU/Linuxonly in unstable
6. MEPIS LinuxOnly 4.3.10 in devel
7. Gentoo LinuxOnly in unstable
8. Slackware Linux4.4.0 is the newest (has no devel listed)
8. Knoppix4.3.10 is the newest
10. Xandros DesktopNo php at all
From these PHP5 is distributed by all but MEPIS, Slackware, Knoppix and Xandros [2]. Knoppix is a Debian, so a disk install of Knoppix does provide PHP5; It's just not the default on the CD. Slackware includes PHP5 under /testing which probably causes distrowatch to miss it. MEPIS and Xandros are newbie oriented, and probably not found in server environments. Not that I advocate wide php 5 distribution as a good measure of adoption, namely on server environments, but I prefer records being straight. Mandriva seems to be close to a release, Debian has it in unstable, but it seems to me that packages need to at least to get to testing in debian before they get widespread use. So like I said before, its pretty much only Fedora Core 4 shipping php5 out of the major distros. Now in a couple months Ubuntu and Mandrake will also have it but they don't now. I would also like to point out its going to be a year or two before its in debian stable (asuming the next stable release takes less time then the last one), but with its update rate, im guessing everyone backports from unstable anyway. And yes DistroWatch searches suck, you have to go to the page of each distro to see the real facts. -josh
