Thats funny. eZ components have a much more strict coding style and contribution regulations in place, which is put forth as a feature. So please stay with the facts.
also think that the PEAR repository as a project is now obsolete as the installer has channel support allowing installation from multiple source. Instead of trying to regulate all the code in the repository as the PEAR group, I would instead start recommending to have a look at what other channels have to offer as well.
I think you are overstating the situation a bit. PEAR as a code repository dwarfs anything out there in the PHP world when it comes to providing quality packages for PHP. Now there are some good packages outside of PEAR. Some may even be "better" when compared individually. However if you need more than that single package you will quickly run into problems where you will be faced with code that follows different codeing guidelines. This will add additional work. It might still be worth it due to the additional features/performance provided. But its something that should not be forgotten. Now _WE_ knew full well what we were doing when _WE_ decided that its a good idea to provide the infrastructure if PEAR to the PHP world at large. And obviously one of our goals was to make it easier to get to all the nice code outside of PEAR. So obviously it makes sense for us to evaluate how _OUR_ users can benefit here. regards, Lukas
