You can use the pecl module already. I've been thinking about using it
a lot since someone dropped the link (Btw, where on pecl are they
hiding the documentation? ;-)), e.g. for forcing variables types from
$_GET/$_POST.

Well, people can cast their vote when there is a proposal and then
it's either accepted or not. ;-) Wee... different opinions and
opensource!
