In my case almost everything is installed in /usr/local/lib/php/, But there
is also a directory called extentions where for example php_gtk.so resides.
Maybe is a directory external, foreign or other a good namespace.
On the other hand, why not installing those 'foreign' packages just in the
php/lib directory.
If there's a uniform location for these 'foreign' packages i can in my code
pedend include("external/MyPackage/Package.php"). I can set than a dependicy
that 'external\MyPackage' must be installed and i'm not forced to deliver
this package within my application setup.
And doesn't provide that '<package><name>' tag the namespace? But
i'm not to
farmilar with pear install.
Mostly i just install the files manually. I'm a bit old fashion ;-)
