The PEAR installer will also install PHP Extension to another
directory: Simply run `pear config-show' and look for the
value of ext_dir. This will be the directory where PHP extensions
will be installed. You can change the value by using
`pear config-set <your_directory_goes_here>'.

For some programmers it might be easier to distinguish between
their in-house code and the open-source code they are using,
when they are stored at two different places.
