Good point. The thing is that how often to you need such algorithm like luhn or RC4 on a standalone basis. Apart from validation ? IMHO Validation makes more sense than algorithm. From the use point of view. ouch, and the day someone needs it in another place than authentication ... (s)he will have to know?
