Hello all,
With school out and my job drying up, I've been coding up some fun stuff
that I hope we can eventually merge with MDB. It's a relational database
implemented on top of a DBM database, and a DBM-style database implemented
purely in PHP. I've been working on design and functionality without much
attention to really PEAR-izing it, but I think that the kids will really
dig it anyway.
So far, it implements most of the common functions needed with a
relational database; sort, select, project, join, insert, update, delete,
unique. I think that the select and join algorithms are pretty clever;
they generate PHP code and use the exec() function to produce results.
There is plenty to clean up and add to the system, but you can see a
test session here:
http://ozma.union.utexas.edu/~busterb/RoundDB/RoundDBTest.php
And download the code here:

It's called RoundDB because it is a little better than a flat file
database, of course, though I'm open to name changes. We all know how much
fun it is to name things ;)
Thanks,
- Brent
