making DHTML work on minority buggy browsers is normally as simple as not using document.all (document all was written for buggy MAJORITY browsers) instead use document.getElementById(element) , it works on minor buggy browsers as well as majority buggy browsers. Minority buggy browsers support most style attributes, so are actually 99.9% compatible I used to be an IE zealot too, then i caught it executing files without my permission (even tho it was fully patched), now i wouldnt be seen dead browsing with it... execpt to check my code for cross-browser compatibility :) I don't know what makes you think I'm an IE "zealot", but I can assure you that I'm not. If there was a better browser out there, I'd use it.
www.mozilla.org ? DHTML/CSS support is virtually the same, it is stable.... Crashes much less often than IE, and doesnt bring down the entire OS (windows that is) Mozilla on Linux is good too....
Im not trying to start a browser war.... just dont use document.all and your code will work everywhere... (except NS4, but i think we can forget that one now...) You're being a little naive here. Simply "not using document.all" does not ensure compatibility with all browsers. There are numerous nuances between browsers, and browser version that make cross browser scripting a pita, and time consuming.
hmmmm.... I develop DHTML sites using Mozilla 1.0... I then check with IE - so far the code i write in Moz works in IE with no code changes, except screen width stuff Cross browser scripting for NS4 is a PITA... Cross broser for Mozilla, NS6, opera is NOT.. that is what I am trying to point out
