Hé, hé ! I am thinking about such a system for about 6 months now. Didn't came out of my brain yet. Don't know what Template_Flexy is. I am thinking about IT and Smarty. the advantage of Smarty is that it allows plugins. the advantage of IT is that it is much more expandable because the syntaxt is so easy. It might only be necessary to add 'modifiers' into placeholders declaration and this would do the trick.
IMO it would be really cool to have something like this written for Smarty. I've thought about it, but in the current state of HTML_QuickForm it would be hard to do anything like this. I'd still argue that an XML file for the form details would be best rather than any template dependent solution. Templates still mix the form logic with the presentation which is what I want to split out. I'm not actually sure where the split should be - whether the form class should return an array of form elements + labels that I then display in a table (or in my case in CSS positioned divs) or if it should construct the table like HTML_QuickForm already does. Anyhow that comes later... got to finish these exams first :-) Peter -- Maple Design - quality web design and programming http://www.mapledesign.co.uk
