Hi Aaron, First off thanks for all of this information, it sure does make debugging easier. Aaron Jensen wrote:
% pear -V PEAR Version: 1.3.3 PHP Version: 5.0.3 Zend Engine Version: 2.0.3 Running on: Darwin 7.7.0 Darwin Kernel Version 7.7.0: Sun Nov 7 16:06:51 PST 2004; root:xnu/xnu-517.9.5.obj~1/RELEASE_PPC Power Macintosh I am running Mac OS X 10.3.7 on a Powerbook 550MHz G4. Whenever I run sudo pear upgrade [insert favorite package name] I get the following: % sudo pear upgrade [package] downloading [package] ... Starting to download [package] (14,548 bytes) .....done: 14,548 bytes and it hangs there, while php hogs about 40 - 60% of the CPU. If I download the package first, then unpack it myself and run % sudo pear upgrade package.xml it gets installed. What can I do to get pear working? Thanks.
You might try % sudo pear install FavoritePackage.tar and see if that works. If so, then your zlib is borked. Debian users have encountered the same problem, perhaps there is a similar bug in Darwin's zlib?
Side note: when I unpack it, I get the following: % tar zxf [package].tgz tar: A lone zero block at 144
No idea what that is :) Greg
