Whenever I run sudo pear upgrade [insert favorite package name] I get the following:

and it hangs there, while php hogs about 40 - 60% of the CPU.
I faced the same problem on my Mac OS X 10.3.7 on iBook 700MHz with PHP 4.3.8, 4.3.9, 4.3.10.
Now, with following, I've come to get pear to work well.
$ curl http://go-pear.org/ > pear.php
$ sudo /usr/bin/php pear.php
# using pre-installed php(4.3.2) on Mac OS X.
# in following dialog, I set '/usr/local' for prefix
$ sudo pear config-set bin_dir /usr/local/bin
# I've installed new version of php in /usr/local/binYes, I think this is *not* a smart way. But I hope this might help some Mac OS X users. Thanks. --------------------------------------------------- Satoshi Ebisawa http://www.aqua-mint.com/
