then you cant insert an empty string on oracle and this is one of the reason why it makes sense to convert on insert. its a portability option afterall .. disable when not needed.
So what are you saying we should do with $db_options ? portability is on by default which is not so good for me. what is more readable and definable as a key userID or userid ... :)
