It seems I stired up something ;-) Well, I am using a very limited part of PEAR so far. Whenever I look for documentation (in the source code), I find more interesting PEAR features and I am always tempted start using them ... But as I mentioned before ... I would have to do my research first, in order to be able to use the new functionality. That keeps me away from actually using more PEAR. I started struggling with PEAR Auth some time ago. It seems that is working much better now. Still ... what happen when the DB is not available and a user likes to login ... the "$a->start()" somehow exits w/o any error (void) leading to a blank page. I guess I am doing something wrong here ... or. Right now I have to check first if the database is available before I use Auth. Anyhow, I wrote an application on w2k with PHP 4.3.2, PEAR 1.0 (I guess), Smarty using MS-SQL with db transaction logic. And of course I know how it is when it comes to documentation. So far I found the PHP Manual most helpful as it has quite a number of examples and notes etc. The commented PHP manual pages are helpful too in case the manual cannot help. But for PEAR ... I really do not know. It is an ongoing project and therefore the source code is the best help. I could imagine that docbook is extracting comments from the sourcecode. That would keep things more simple for the developer as there would be no need to write separate documentation. Quick example ... looking through the helpful PEAR manual: http://pear.php.net/manual/en/ for DB commit, rollback, autocommit functions (which I am using now), I do not find anything there. But I find it in the pear/DB.php and pear/DB/mssql.php source code. A google search for "PEAR DB rollback" will finally lead me to the right site: http://vulcanonet.com/soft/pear_tut/ . This page contains much more information about PEAR DB than ... There is still a lot to do, but maybe that is the reason it is a lot of fun! I rather help development with contributions like reporting bugs, contributing code etc., than looking for Error msg. 0x80003245 for the 'MainStream' products. I am using w2k due to customer demand, but Unix, Linux are my servers, helpers, blackboxes etc. Gunther
