I truly hope they find a way to keep a GPL copy, if it can not be worked
out to have GPL works inside of PEAR.

I agree, however I am just restating what stig and rasmus said. If I mis
read them I apologize. You can view the archive to see if I mis read, but
I think it was pretty clearly stated by both that doing more than PHP
license in PEAR was not gonna happen.
