I concur that this is great news.
I have been doing some work on an Auth class based on some code from Colin
Viebrock who in turned based it on some PHPLIB ideas. I will try and
create a tarball of my work in progress in the next day or so in case it
may be off some help.
One of the main issues that I think you will face in the port is some of
the stylistic issues associated with the PHPLIB API. The pear stuff tends
to use java style method naming (e.g., $this->emptyCart) where as PHPLIB
uses underscore separted names (e.g., $this->empty_cart). The reason why
this may be a big issue is because I would suggest that PHPLIB violate the
current standards (no flames please:-) because it would tend to break alot
of existing sites that use PHPLIB if you changed the API. Maybe you could
create some PEAR transformer script that could be used to update the api
for older sites but I am not sure what kind of reliabilty you could get
with such a script.

Paul Meagher

Such a great news !!!
I was really worried to see phplib vanish one day. Now I think it is taking
the best possible direction. Thanks for the efforts !
