Hello,

Worse than making changes at this time, is not making changes when we know we have issues which will be long lasting. They will not last long, but we will have them anyway, nothing we can do will change that. That's why I always ask to bundle the filter extension with the experimental flag, at least for one PHP release.
We don't want to have to go down this routing knowing we have to break BC down the road. As we have yet to bundle ext/filter I suggest to not bundle it in 5.2.0,Not sure what you mean but filter is already bundled. We'll have to remove the symlink and readd it later.
take a week or two to finalize the extension, and ship it in 5.2.1. If there are any binary compatibility patches in the core, we could keep those in and just not use them until 5.2.1 is shipped.I think it could be a sage choice, it is not good for the filter image but it is for the good of the Filter extension and PHP. The second choice is to solve the API issues in the next days and release RC5, that means one more week delay for 5.2.0. I have no preference. I'm very happy to finally have a discussion about the final API but I'm really disappointed to have this dicussion only a couple of days before 5.2.0.
