Since := means assign, I read =:= as the left variable is assigned to the
right, and the right one is assigned to the left, so it works only if both
are the same :)
But it is a little hard to type, so =x= is nice and fast. A | is just as
slow as : (a little slower since it doesn't have a standard keyboard
position). =-= is ok I guess. The visual reminds me of a fat variable
getting squeezed smaller, then expanding bigger again :)
What about the not equal? Is everyone going with =!= ?

=!=
There's lots we can use though, but I guess the basic structure is
decided. Have you (core people) decided on if you'll have strict
greater/less then operators? It will matter, <:= just looks funny (looks
like a squid to me) and =:< is worse (sad clown) :)
