CVS update :) We added the -B switch to flex++ which tells it not to work in interactive mode but read blocks of data. The regular C scanner is smart enough to know whether it is running interactively or not, the C++ scanner isn't. Argh! Too simple. Can some of the other flex++ flags be used? Like -Cf or -CF?
Zeev and I messed around with these flags a couple of years ago and apart of making the source and binary much bigger it didn't seem to make much of a performance difference. Probably because in both PHP 3.0 and PHP 4.0 there is only a limited amount of scanning done at the beginning of script execution and scanning isn't our application's main execution time.
