Actually, your note was removed for two reasons specifically (and
I keep needing to remind myself to update the user note guidelines to
reflect this as well):
* Notes references other notes or in reply to another user are
removed. This is because it causes confusion if/when the original
note is removed.
* The PHP user notes are not a place for code collaboration or
code fixes. We don't mean in any way that the code is bad, or that
the efforts of the posters are unappreciated by any means --- just
that there are far more appropriate venues than the PHP manual's user
notes.
Some folks post notes to the manual using the more recent mindset
of a comment forum, which the user notes have never been. The intent
of the notes is merely to append small observations to the manual,
nothing more. On occasion, we do permit code snippets and the like,
but if I were pressed for an answer, I would venture to say that
approximately 40% of the notes submitted are inappropriate for
inclusion in the manual.
Again, it doesn't mean that your note was bad, just that it wasn't
a good fit for the manual.
That said, if you notice issues with an existing user note, you
are encouraged to report it at http://bugs.php.net/ and describe
the
issue with the note (bad code, offensive language, incorrect "facts"
in the note, et cetera) and an editor will take a look as soon as
possible. The user notes are not a place to point out these issues,
as the guidelines do state, but they need to be updated to reflect
that attempts to correct previous notes will be deleted.
