When i first started working on prototype, descriptions were desired functionality. If they're too much hassle now or rewen things atethetically then i will drop it. I took my basis from apple.com's PHP autocomplete. http://www.apple.com/ type 'a' in the top right search bar. I really like this autocomplete bar and would certainly like to have an autocompelte working and looking as good as this !I definitely like the look of the apple one. Notice that they have the top of the autocomplete menu anchored to the bottom of the toolbar; whereas, ours is floating a bit. Visually, it would be nice if it was anchored to something, or if the top-left corner of menu was rounded off like the bottom edge.
There was no decided place where we get the descriptions from. My suggestion was we load all functions to client side, as we do right now. But when it's displaying the final 10 (or less) results or whatnot then make an ajax request for only them 10 results to get the descriptions. Thoughts anyone ?I think that's a good strategy. It should be possible to do it in such a way that it doesn't slow down displaying the function matches (ie. the descriptions come in later). Stew
