it *should* work if you have atleast the client libaries installed on
your box...

yes i made a fault compiling it in the "old" times. which i noticed
recently, but i have no "old" oracle here, so i'm missing some files to
compile an oracle extension.

can't tell you much about that. but i noticed that to, comare the output
the files only contains <? phpinfo() ?>:
on time called by
php phpinfo.php > phpinfo.html
and in browser. it lacks some of the *should* get registerd variables.
the missing variables seems to cause *most* of the whole extension
faults.
