I feel obliged... So here are my two pence:
If I were you, I would see if an html format could work instead of the PDF,
the transformation:
word->html is easy to do in COM. But if you really need a PDF, I doubt that
the PDFmaker functionality exists as a COM object in word (maybe I'm wrong,
check it). Otherwise, if your word doc is not complicated, you may be able
to use the pdflib function to write the document from its text form directly
to PDF...
Come to think of it, that was an half penny advise ;)

Hello all,
I'm not much of a programmer, let that be said. I have a need for coworkers
to be able to upload a Word file, then have PHP turn it into a renamed
Acrobat file. Then have PHP make pages and query an index of the files.
As far as uploading the Word file, querying the index and spitting out the
results... I've got that, no problem. What I don't have is the whole PDF
making thing.
I'm guessing that with COM I could open those Word files and have them saved
using the PDFmaker function in Word. They don't need to be anything fancy,
and all of the documents are very standard 8 1/2 x 11 text documents.
Alain, I know you watch this group. If it wasn't for your article on
PHPBuilder, I wouldn't have dreamed this impossible, so you have an
obligation to add your two cents! :)
Thanks in advance everyone.
John
