"Note: wrappers for GPL libraries will not be accepted, and extensions for
LGPL libraries are strongly discouraged."
http://php.net/license/contrib-guidelines-code.php
Specifically regarding GPL and LGPL source code:
- GPL or LGPL licensed code cannot be used as a basis for any derived
work contributed to PHP.
- Extensions which link GPL'd libraries will not be accepted.
- Extensions which link to LGPL libraries will be strongly discouraged.
IMHO this is inconsistent what Pierre said for the Judy extension developer,
but whatever.
after that, pierre says, that the extensions AND the libraries are
restricted to PHP or BSD like licenses.
I don't get it, maybe I'm just tired or something.
