Jason,
How about ODBCINSTINI and LD_LIBRARY_PATH variables? These should tell php
where the driver manager is and where the necessary driver libraries are.
Regarding TurboImage, no, we don't directly support it. If you have a
native driver on the same box it sits on though, you could probably
piggyback on that with our odbc_sv agent.
Let me know if you'ld like more info or would like my help exploring it
further.
Best regards,
Andrew

Sorry, I didn't mention that I've tried that too.
When I include that line, ODBCINI shows up as an
environment variable in phpinfo and the path is
correct. I've also rechecked the permissions on
the odbc.ini file and it is readable by php. I
wrote a script to open it and read a line and
print it.
I think we checked into openlink first, but we
couldn't see where openlink supports connections
to a TurboImage database running on an hp server.
Do you know if this is supported or if there are
any plans to support it?

Hi,
I would imagine that you need to include this line
in your script:
putenv("ODBCINI=path/to/your/odbc.ini");
You can also check out the HOWTO at
http://www.iodbc.org/odbc-phpHOWTO.html
It doesn't specifcially cover Easysoft (they
compete with my company to a certain extent =) but
might get you going in the right direction.
Best regards,
Andrew

Subject: RE: [PHP-DB] PHP and Easysoft ODBC
Thanks for the reply. I also posted my problem to
the easysoft newsgroup and I still haven't gotten
a reply there. Unfortunately though, the problem
still exists.
I do have the DNS entry on the database server.
There is a program with ESOOB called demo that
connects to a database on an Easysoft server. I
changed the odbc.ini file to match what I'm using
in my php program. Then when I ran the demo
program it connected to my database and even
reported back the database name. So ESOOB seems
to be installed and working correctly. I just
can't seem to be able to use it with PHP.
Also I'm not real experienced at installing things
on *nix systems, and I've never installed php, but
I do know a little about it. Probably just enough
to be dangerous!
'--with-apache=../apache' is used to create a
static install instead of a dynamic install as far
as I know. This option is not showing up in
phpinfo so I'm assuming it wasn't used. What is
the difference between the dynamic install and the
static install? Should we include this option to
get Easysoft ODBC to work?
The only other option you mention that I don't
know if it would make a difference or not would
be --without-mysql. We also need mysql so it was
installed --with-mysql. Do you know if there are
any known problems configuring ESOOB and MYSQL
together into PHP? Thanks again for the reply.
This list sure beats the easysoft newsgroup!
