Ouch... OK, I'm a bad teacher. I'm explaining once more.
You *do not* have information which variables are bound by
reference. Also, for this code:
<?
$a = 1;
$b =& $a;
$b = 2;
var_dump($a);
var_dump($b);
?>
You have reference but var_dump and print_r won't tell you a thing.
References are very internal PHP concept that are _designed_ to be not
visible form userspace easily.
