Hi,
I'm at the O'Reilly conference so I really have little time to respond to Emails.
But just to give my 2 cents to this discussion I must say that Stas is pretty right. If you want to serialize references you will need to save some lookup table during serialization and make sure that each serialized zval is given an id. When you encounter a reference you have already serialized just serialize with the original id. Anyway, it's kind of a mess and it should be in the serializer/unserializer code and not in the Zend Engine. I don't think it's such a great thing to have but if you think it is important go ahead and implement it.

But this will be a real slowdown - so if it works, I'd propose to make it at least a flag in configuration - by default being off. -- Stanislav Malyshev stas@zend.com +972-3-6139665 -- PHP Development Mailing List <http://www.php.net/> To unsubscribe, e-mail: php-dev-unsubscribe@lists.php.net For additional commands, e-mail: php-dev-help@lists.php.net To contact the list administrators, e-mail: php-list-admin@lists.php.net--- Andi Gutmans <andi@zend.com> http://www.zend.com/
