Hehe, I am new, but not THAT new. :) We are a development company and we develop websites for clients. Now if we want to develop something for our clients, and we want to avoid reproducibility of code, PHP has a drawback because theoretically my mgmt will argue that "Why not use Java when we can hide all our source with it?" My feeble attempts at it: 1. Because Java takes a lot more time than PHP. 2. Java takes a whole lot more of frills and ancillaries to actually execute, where as PHP is just PHP, I dont need a ton of libraries and APIs for every little sneeze. 3. Because Java (imo) is much slower. 4. And most importantly, because I can "decompile" Java code as well if I really were to steal code. (I was told that decompilation can be prevented to an extent, though I am not sure about it) Comments/guru-speak/suggestions/experiences welcome!! When you said 'You can see the | source', do you | mean PHP source? I don't think so. If you execute a php program | in a HTML the | result is nothing but a HTML (even if you try to see the source).
