No, it has real table problems. I don't mind that it is quite a bit more
strict on tables, because you need to get them right anyway. My problem is
that Netscape 4.x renders nested tables *significantly* slower than IE. We
had to fundamentally change the way a web site was designed in order to
make a get render time down to a few seconds over an ethernet. IE rendered
the pages instantaneously. We got the page acceptable in Netscape by going
from 6 deep nested tables to 4. (Netscape 6 doesn't have this problem.)
Oh! and on the programming environment:
Ultraedit on Windows as the programmer's desktop, files saved by ftp to
our devel server (linux/apache/php). My revision control system is QVCS,
which works fine for me. At any given time I also have IE, NN4.7x,
sometimes N6, and sometimes Opera open. I also like to check the looks of
the pages these days in the KDE2 browser konqueror.
