There is a switch when you configure PHP to use a Redhat layout. I would recommend compiling everything by hand in the future. RPMs are really nice for some things like system utils, but they really suck for stuff like this. You might search the archives as well because this is a common problem that can be fixed by setting symlinks or something but I've never done it so I can't remember how.
