That's what I mean. Adding some code that controls the use of the product. Maybe not that it works for a certain amount of time. Instead one can use license keys that allow to check if the script is used under the correct domain (it has been buyed for). It certainly depends on the situation and is useless if you develop a php script under a contract. I share the opinion that in that case it is not a technical, but a legal problem. It changes however if you devlop a product yourself, sell it to your customers and don't want them to create illegal copies.
