It's NOT that macro that is failing, it's the other macros
    you propably don't even have..

Maybe you should install an older automake?
Getting all those macros to work with the latest
     and "greatest" automake is impossible.

This means you have old automake macros installed,
propably leftovers from previous version you had.
Or those packages which provide them just don't support the
very latest version you installed. :)

It's propably the same fault I had. Remove ALL autotools and

versions of autoconf/automake/libtool. Those external macros used
have some stuff in them that the old autoconf can't handle ->
weird error.
Do you know which version this "old autoconf" was? Currently I've installed:
ii autoconf 2.59a-3 automatic configure script builder
ii autoconf2.13 2.13-54 automatic configure script builder
ii automake1.4 1.4-p6-9 A tool for generating GNU
ii libtool1.4 1.4.3-21 Generic library support script
Autoconf 2.59 is a debian dependency, I cannot install 2.13 without 2.59, however calling 'autoconf' always calls 2.13 . I've already purged and reinstalled them all. Can you provide the version numbers you're using for successful php-gtk compilatin (or Andrei) ? thanks, - Markus
