My opinion is that DreamWeaver is not a free program. So, if Macromedia
wants to add PHP support to their app, they would have to do it on their
own. I don't see why I would work for them if they take all the money at the
end and get new customers... :-)
If they chose not to support PHP from the beginning and rather support
ASP/JSP/CF, it was probably a strategic decision. Unfortunately, they lost
many potential customers. Personally, this decision made me angry even if I
would probably never use something else as a text editor to write my PHP
code.
