Package Proposal: UDDI

Hi all, we (meaning Tobias Hauser and myself) have been working with UDDI quite a lot in the last months and have also used the PHP package phpUDDI. It provides a set of easy-to-use PHP classes for Web Services discovery and publication using UDDI. We would find it a cool idea to put this package into PEAR, section "Web Services", it would IOHO fit there quite nicely. We've contacted the original authors. They both do not have the time right now to further maintain the package and agreed to let us take over for some time. In a first step, we PEARified the available version 0.3 of phpUDDI, you can find the source code and a bit of documentation here: http://www.weblayout.de/playground/UDDI.phps This is basically a minimally altered version of phpUDDI according to the PEAR coding standards; this is why we do not have implemented the PEAR error handling yet, for instance. However we do have further plans to extend and partially rewrite the class. So before we continue to work further on phpUDDI "the PEAR way", we of course want this list to vote on this. Again, we really think that this class would fit nicely into PEAR; if approved we would always provide a PEARified version of the current phpUDDI version. Comments are appreciated. -Christian
