I posted a small patch for this package a while ago both to the pear-dev and xml-rpc mailing list: [snip]
I did not get any reaction on either listI also submitted a patch for XML_RSS and XML_Parser almost a month ago and nothing has happened aside from being assigned to Martin (Martin: I know you're busy, so i'm not saying that it's your fault nothing has happened, but this leads me to my next point).
To cut the story short: if someone, like Marshall Roch, is motivated to further maintain and improve the package, that would be nothing but an improvement.I'm not sure I'm qualified to take over what seems to be such an important package. In my opinion, if the whole voting thing was more formalized, such as having a poll so people can later see who voted and what the outcome was, and there was an established time period and set quorum, then changes would undergo peer review, but not so much need would be placed on the maintainer. Even if the maintainer is not extremely busy like Stig and Martin are, I see benefits because more minds than just the maintainer are going to notice problems, or pass the good patches through more quickly (improving the quality of the packages, obviously). -- Marshall Roch
