I amy be wrong, but I do not believe that, that is the entire compatbility issue. That I know of Zend also doesn't do docblocks for includes, constants, and page level? That may be part of what is being referenced, I don't know. Not that any of these things are dificult. Maybe an idea is that Zend Studio should support both @desc or the single line description method currently used by PHPDoc? There may be some efforts which need to be made to have ZDS fully compatible, and this may need to be done by both parties for fully BC. - Stan Zeev Suraski wrote:
/** * @return unknown * @param $params unknown * @param $smarty unknown * @desc Enter description here... */ I don't know why. It was often demanded. But zend uses to not listen to the userbase too much. Daniel, Can you explain how it is incompatible? I know that @desc is not in the PHPDoc standard, but how does this break compatibility? A PHPDoc parser should still be able to figure it out, and ignore @desc. That said - I think it would be a good idea to add @desc to the standard, for short one line descriptions. That's why we added it in the first place. By the way - we've received maybe two requests about this issue (the fact that the ZDE doesn't read the entire comment, but looks for @desc). Given that, saying it was often requested is a bit of an overstatement... Zeev
