I think it's a very good idea. I know that a System:: class has at least been
talked about; if we don't have it, we should - to do stuff like setting file
permissions in a platform independant way. Letting packages set permissions on
files, maybe even have preinstall and postinstall scripts, etc., would all be
very useful.
