hi Tomas,
We're working on a PHPMake package now.
Andi is initially doing some cheats to get the system up and working for us
as fast as possible, but the basic system design will allow us to easily
make those cheats 'proper' code.
I think Make is certainly a necessity for complex applications, I don't know
that it's necessarily a necessity for PEAR Packages.
However, we do make language abstraction (strings) a part of the make
process, with I think great success.
