I think there needs to be some sort of visual design system for a permission
system. Even if it's just tables using 1 pixel borders as connection lines.
Conceptually, I think permissions need to be either attributes of objects of
type:
1/ User
2/ DataSource
3/ Application/Webpage
How to use these, I don't know.
One other thing about permissions. There is a new permission system headed to a
Unix operating system near you! Don't delay, get one now! Seriously, there is a
security system that is in the works that I read about that totally redoes
linux/unix security. I just spent a half an hour looking for it again on the
web, but I must be using the wrong search terms. Anyway, it is a HIGHLY granular
security system, even modules and programs have permission groups. I think a
user permission system modeling that would be very effective.
As in the movies and nature, life imitating art, or is it art imitation life,
tends to be very successful.
