You can think by having at least one person on each continent, for example. Actually, I don't think that this should apply for the core QA Team.On Fri, May 21, 2004 at 09:19:30PM +0100, Davey wrote:Well, this is a very good concern. And I think that it is necessary for all candidates to at least have intimate knowledge of how PEAR works, and of the packages. This of course does not mean that they must have a package in PEAR. However, I don't think that this will be a problem, because we already have at least 7 strong candidates (Lukas, Stefan, Stephan, Toby, Arnaud, Helgi and myself -- I personally don't know Carlos, but he's been around a while.) However, we should consider that if possible, we should have people across timezones. All 7 in Europe would really be a shame (and as has been said before, don't bring up your wierd schedules ;-). So... Currently we have a large number in Europe (Lukas, Stephan, Stefan, Toby, Arnaud and myself), with Helgi a few hours off, and Carlos in Brazil. We need to try for some diversity here.Daniel Convissor wrote:The point of the QA team is to have very knowledgeable, skilled people on it who can figure out what's going on and resolve issues accurately. Right? So, what if we get candidates that don't fit that bill, but there aren't enough solid candidates so the weaker candidates get in anyway? Will -1 votes on individuals be allowed? Should voting be anonymous? No, and no. Just vote for your top (upto) 7
I'd like to reiterate here: if someone doesn't make the core team, it does not mean that they can't help with QA. This is merely the people with responsibility, those who get in trouble if there is a problem. ;-) In converse, if you want to help with QA, you don't have to try to join the core team. In fact, you probably *shouldn't*. The non-core QA team members will merely not have extended karma (and therefore less responsibility), but they still are just as vital to QA as the core team. Read the RFC if in doubt.Sure thing.
