PEAR_ErrorStack is not the successor of PEAR_Error, it is just another way to do the same thing. You don't have to use it. Personnally, I am not going to use it, and I will also stop using PEAR_Error as it forces me to require PEAR.php. As soon as my packages will be ported to PHP5 E_STRICT, they will use standard exceptions and trigger_error(). In your special case, I find it a pity to break your API just to use PEAR_ErrorStack. I was using your package before, now I am in trouble.2.0.0 has extensive modifications to the API anyway, I thought if I was going to break things as much as I have that I might as well go all out and use the latest error package as well. Personally, I like the ErrorStack package. Perhaps my assumption about it being the successor to PEAR.php is incorrect, I dunno, FWIR on the list that seemed the consensus. As far as you being in trouble with all the BC breaks, I dunno, 1.1.0 is about to become stable. I suggest that you continue to use that version :). My intention isn't to leave anyone hanging on BC, so I plan on continuing to fix bugs in 1.x.x, if any present themselves. It also wouldn't be very difficult to add the mailbox management stuff to that release too. The idea for this release is to make it as efficient and feature-rich as possible, still have some way to go with it, but I think it's a step forward. Most of the BC breaks came from feature requests. It seemed the right way to go when I originally put it together but as the feature requests came in, its got more and more bloated. So I looked at everywhere I could to trim off the fat, so to speak. I also thought about doing 2.0.0 PHP 5 only.. with all the BC breaks it seemed to make alot of sense. Thoughts on this? And also, nothing is set in stone.. that's why I wanted comments before going forward with the release. I appreciate your opinion.
