James Stewart (http://pear.php.net/user/jystewart) has commented on the proposal for
XML::XML_Feed_Writer.
Comment:
I too have reservations about the design of this package and think in its
current form it's too limited to warrant inclusion in PEAR.
You commented on XML_Feed_Parser that it would work well with this
package, but I don't think that's the case. It would be great to be able
to be able to hand a DOM element from the parser to the writer for
inclusion in another feed. There's a lot of talk about atom as a general
data store, and being able to move elements between parser and writer
would be very helpful there.
Similarly, I don't see how/whether you provide any mappings between
elements that serve a similar purpose but go by different names in
different feed types. It would be good to be able to feed in one set of
data and then output in multiple formats (eg. when caching feeds to
disk).
How are you handling namespaces and extensions?
Please don't issue print statements and definitely don't use die() within
your package.
