I was going off what Arnaud said - so I transferred it into PHP5, I have it working in strict mode and have two of my APIs on this now. Dialogue and Zamino.
NET_SMS will still be there? Its not like you are deleting it, what ever APIs I create can be easily transferred into PHP4 version of NET_SMS by the developers of that and likewise - as like you say it inst rocket science and will be done quite quickly. When I finish the PHP5 version if the PHP4 version is coming along then I don't mind doing that also.
I want to test my skills out by working alone on this if possible, and working with the latest toys, I am new to PEAR as I keep saying and still quite new to PHP5 OOP programming.

Zitat von Ian Warner <iwarner@triangle-solutions.com>:It doesn't harm anybody though if I create the SMS2 package now though does it, if people want to use it they can.It does, because you'll lock out all users that use Net_SMS currently, everybody who still uses PHP 4, and any application that relies on Net_SMS like Swoosh. You still didn't provide any details why your additions need to be PHP 5.What I would like though it the ability to have a test audience for this app and pear provides an easy distribution for that. And you would get an even bigger test audience if you keep it compatible with PHP 4. Net_SMS is really not rocket science that needs the latest and greatest OO/SPL/XML/etc support that only PHP 5 offers.Jan Schneider wrote:Jan. --Do you need professional PHP or Horde consulting? http://horde.org/consulting/Zitat von Arnaud Limbourg <arnaud@limbourg.com>:Jan Schneider wrote:Not IMHO, because it's not a complex package at all that would gain from PHP 5 in any sense. It works perfectly with PHP 4. Horde 4 will be PHP 5 only, we probably need to bump all our pear packages then anyway, but there is still some way to go for that to happen. Would it make sense to have a Net_SMS2 package for a PHP5 version ?Arnaud Ok contacted them - I had already started this anyway. The thought of doing it in Strict mode is interesting I will turn it on again and give it a go :)Nothing arrived here. Since this package is provide by Horde, I suggest use http://bugs.horde.org or the Horde developer mailing list (http://www.horde.org/mail/) directly to discuss this. Though I can already promise you that this package won't be turned in to PHP5 anytime soon.
