Till Klampaeckel (http://pear.php.net/user/till) has commented on the proposal for Networking::Net_Vpopmaild. Comment: Great idea. Unfortunately, I cannot try this since I don't run Qmail/Vpopmail anymore. But glancing over it, I see this as a very valuable addition. Question though, since I didn't spot a dependency on the PECL extension, are you going to use it anyway (when available) or did you implement this totally independent (, and if so "why")?Net_Vpopmaild does not use the vpopmail PECL extension. Vpopmail has a new program, vpopmaild, which Net_Vpopmaild talks to over tcp/ip (using Net_Socket). The problem with the PECL extension was that the virtual mail spool still had to be local to the web app using the PECL extension. Also, the web server needed to run as the same user that the vpopmail files were owned by (default is vpopmail:vchkpw). Perhaps I should clarify this in the proposal. Also, I fixed a couple of bugs in the vpopmaild program that have not been released, so you'd need to grab the source from checkout if you did want to test it. I should clarify that as well.
