Hi guys, I have a quick question I wanted to throw by people. I've been observing how many requests a day we get from PHP 4.3 and 5.0 people over the last month or so, 4.3 seems to roam around 1000 - 3000 requests a day, 4.3.9 being the most popular one due to CentOS 4 I believe (we get requests from 4.3.1 to 4.3.11 just in case people wondered) and then we get around 400 - 800 requests a day from 5.0 systems ... I'm not even sure why people still use that! Now given we average between I'd say 150k - 200k+ requests a day then you see those 2 groups of PHP account for well ... a very small part of our target group, at least those running installations and upgrades via the pear installer. Now what I wanted to ask people, would anyone mind if we upped the PHP dep to 4.4 (I mean even that one is having its last release on 8th of August this year) and I'd also like to exclude any 5.0 since it's just a bad PHP release cycle and basically nobody is using it anymore. Now don't get me wrong - We can keep support for both if the community wants that but to me it seems like we're supporting a long dead product, it's bad enough we're still trying to keep PHP 4 support :-) Anyway most sane people that need to keep on to the PHP 4 legacy are at least to 4.4 by now so I'd like to be able to constrict my self to 4.4 in testing of the PEAR installer instead of having to do 4.3 and 5.0 too, people needing to support 4.3 should anyway be smart enough to operate how to bypass the PHP dep in the PEAR installer IMHO :-) Anyway what do you guys think about the subject, especially those still stuck on PHP 4 for one or another reason (I'd be interested in hearing from those still using 4.3 and why that is + what OS that would be on) Regards Helgi
