Hi,

Yeah, this point gets raised here quite often but nothing useful came of it yet. I even created a page for discussion of HTTP_Request2 on QuickForm2 wiki, but it didn't attract much interest, either: http://quickform.mamasam.com/wiki/doku.php?id=http_request2But don't you want to wrap the cURL code in your last three packages into a standalone? Just curious! That's a real problem for pear 1, imho we need a PHP5 HTTP_Request2 that can run with E_STRICT...
I already throwed the idea on #pear without success ;) I know we need to concentrate on pear2 but maybe we could make a pear 1 version of the pear2::http_request or make a php5 clone of the pear1 HTTP_Request ?Direct clone of HTTP_Request is a bad idea, since its architecture is a bit messed up, while a rework to PHP5 with "drivers" (fsockopen, curl, others?) is feasible. Zend Framework has some good ideas and even the implementation in PEAR2 SVN has stuff to borrow. Of course we need a full unit-test suite, lack of that for HTTP_Request is a major problem in its development.
I willing to put time on it.Still willing after reading the stuff above?
