Hello Daniel,
XML_DTD_Validator made use of XML_Tree before. I did write a new class
called XML_DTD_XmlParser built on top of XML_Parser to "emulate" the
behavior of XML_Tree, so the changes on XML_DTD_Validator were
minimal.
Here is the diff from XML_DTD_Validator:
http://svn.php.net/viewvc/pear/packages/XML_DTD/trunk/DTD/XmlValidator.php?r1=265248&r2=273795
And the actual code of XML_DTD_XmlParser:
http://svn.php.net/viewvc/pear/packages/XML_DTD/trunk/DTD/XmlParser.php?revision=279483&view=markup
XML_Serializer isn't callback oriented, like XML_Parser. It would not
make sense for XML_DTD to store the whole XML file in memory, as it
needs to analyze only the "skeleton". So XML_Parser callbacks were
useful to capture only the tags, and ignore the data.
For other packages XML_Serializer might make more sense then
XML_Parser as a substitute of XML_Tree. Anyway, I guess we have to
study case by case.
Best,
~IF.
